Ⅰ. Scope of Application
Circuit breaker functional accessories (MV tripper, MN under-voltage tripper, MV+MN over-/under-voltage tripper, MNS no-voltage tripper, MX shunt release, MX+OF shunt release + auxiliary contact, SD alarm contact, OF auxiliary contact) , designed to mate with DZ47 series MCB, are widely used in electric circuits, residential buildings. According to different requirements, these accessories are opted to provide protection against under voltage, over voltage, over-&under-voltage, no-voltage, auxiliary control over default phase, and alarming as well.


Ⅱ. Types and Specifications

Ⅲ. Operating Principle
Shunt release is essentially assembled by an opening coil and tripper. Thermal tripper/ electromagnetic tripper also adopt such a shunt release. The circuit breaker will trip when limited voltage is imposed on the shunt coil. Shunt release is widely used to control remote automatic power off, especially in fire control room to cut off non-fire power.
Circuit breaker can not be closed remotely immediately after shunt releasing or manually directly. It can only be closed after re-trip, which is similar to that of overload tripping. And this is the difference between shunt release and motor-operated tripping.

The operated handle of circuit breaker has three positions. Apart from top(on position) and bottom (off position), there is a middle position. Re-trip means driving the handle from middle position to off position , making the tripper hooked. So the circuit breaker can be closed after that.

The voltage of shunt release and coil can be divided into AC and DC, which has variable voltage classes.  Using DC24V fire control power supply for shunt release and coil , to cut off non-fire power is the most convenient and easiest way. Since shunt release coil can only be energized for a short time and will be burnt for a long time, to concatenate it with a normally closed contact in control circuit is necessary. Thus, the current of shunt release coil will be cut off after the tripping of circuit breaker.


Ⅳ. Shunt Release Function
Shunt release can be used to control the breaking of low voltage circuit breaker remotely. Its electromagnetic coil is connected in parallel with its mains side. When breaking operation is needed, we can push down normally open button making the electromagnet of shunt release energized and catch armature, pushing trip-free mechanism via drive mechanism and making the circuit break tripping.

When two or more types of release is assembled on a same low voltage circuit breaker, we call it as circuit breaker with complex trip. During specified application, shunt release focuses on control ,while under-voltage release is mainly for protection.


Ⅴ. Definition of Release/Tripper
Definition: a type of device, connected with circuit breaker mechanically (or forming a whole part), to release holding mechanism and make the circuit breaker cut off automatically. (GB10963.1-2005 / IEC60898 1:20-02)
Generally speaking,traditionally bimetallic-strip mechanical tripper or electronic electromagnetic tripper and mechanical part of tripper fit together. At present, intelligent tripper does not include mechanical release part, only referring to the control panel (can be understood as a circuit breaker built-in "controller").
Shunt release mates with leakage protector, providing mutual inductance through zero sequence current when the leakage occurs in lines.And then vector-current sum of shunt release is not zero. Both sides of secondary coil(transformer ) will generate voltage, which could be enlarged by the integrated circuit. When the voltage reaches to its setting value, leakage tripper will cut off the power within 0.1s. Thus, the release can provide protection against electrical shock and earth leakage.
Shunt release provides overload, open circuit, leakage, under-voltage, over-voltage, imbalance, under-frequency, over-frequency, reverse power and phase sequence protection function; It also has functions of load monitoring, real value measurement, demand measurement, harmonics measurement, gauge setting, maintenance, communication, DI/DO, regional selective interlocking, test interlocking, LCD interface display, etc.


Ⅵ.  Classification of Tripper/Release
①. Electromagnetic tripper only provides magnetic protection, i.e, short-circuit protection. It is actually a magnetic pull back force. When the electromagnetic trip current is large enough to produce magnetic force to overcome the counter-force of spring to pull-in armature. Thus, the draw bar will be hit to drive the mechanism operating and cutting off circuits.
②. Thermal magnetic tripper provides magnetic and thermal/overload protection. Thermal protection: when the current flows through tripper, thermal element is heated (direct thermal current goes through the bimetallic strip directly), the bimetallic strip will deformed to a certain extent,hitting the draw bar and driving the mechanism operating to cut off circuits. Generally speaking, thermal magnetic tripper are widely adopted in circuits to provide overload and short circuit protection. Only under some special circumstances, electromagnetic tripper will be chosen to provide short circuit protection. And other components, like thermal relay, will be used to provide overload protection.
③. Electronic tripper, characterized by all above functions, can be easily adjusted. The electronic tripper can detect & enlarge the current of main circuit and drive the operating mechanism to trip through the circuit (formed by electronic components).


Ⅶ. Advantages and Disadvantages of Three Tripper Types
①. Electromagnetic tripper:                                                                

Disadvantage:  short-circuit protection only;                                                            

 Advantage:  low cost, long service life, seldom influenced by environment.                                                      

②. Thermal magnetic tripper:                                                                     

Disadvantage:  two-section protection only; big deviation of operating value; unable to be adjusted (although current new generation of circuit breaker can be adjusted mechanically, its adjustment range is pretty small with the error quite big). Easy to be influenced by environment. Advantage: low cost, stable and reliable performance, long service life, can not be influenced by voltage fluctuation. For some types, the input lines can be connected from bottom terminals.         

③. Electronic tripper:                                                                                 

Disadvantage: high cost, generally can not connect the input lines from bottom terminals. For domestic products, low reliability.                                                            Advantage: three-section or even four-section protection, high sensitivity, precise operating value, adjustable; basically, without interference of temperature; can be connected with upper computer to remotely control after assembling with communication module.  

 

Ⅷ. Definition of No-voltage Tripper/Release
No-voltage tripper, connected in parallel with the power side of circuit breaker, can provide under-/zero-voltage protection. Move the handle of circuit breaker to close its normally open auxiliary contact under normal supply voltage, the electromagnet will be energized, pulling in the armature. Thus, trip-free mechanism can lock its main contact at the closing position. And the circuit breaker will be put into operation.When the mains side is power off or power voltage is too low, the electromagnetic force produced by electromagnet is not big enough to overcome the recoil spring tension, the armature is pulled up and drives trip-free mechanism to make the circuit breaker trip, to  provide under-/zero-voltage protection. When supply voltage is 75% ~ 105% of its rating value, no-voltage tripper can ensure pull-in and make the circuit breaker close smoothly; When supply voltage is less than 40% of its rating value, no-voltage tripper will release to drive the breaker tripping.
Generally, it can also be used as breaking operation for normally closed button, which is connected in series with the electromagnetic coil of under-voltage tripper.


Ⅸ、Definition of Auxiliary Contact
Auxiliary contact set is mainly used as remote control for the control circuit of AC 50Hz, rated voltage 660V or below, or DC rated operating voltage 220V or below. It can be connected in main circuit and used as contactor, according to requirements of Standard GB14048.4.
Structure introduction:
①.  Plastic snap-in type of assembly structure. Make full use of the inherent flexibility of nylon. No need to use screws or special tools, which can be time/labor/power saving.                          

②.  Directly operated type of motion structure. Use the pagoda type spring as reactive spring, Characterized by reliable performance, flexible mechanism and impact structure, which can prevent the invasion of dust and debris. Complying with related standard of electric equipment security, the connection terminal of its moving part is covered, which can avoid attack and ensure human security. Product is characterized by miniature size, small installation area. Mounting method: screw fastening or snap-in din-rail(standard rail with width 35mm) mounted. Easy to be disassembled.                                                                                        

③.  Double-break bridging contact, made of silver-base alloy, is characterized by good electrical conductivity, high wear resistance and long service life. Its arc extinguishing chamber is enclosed type, adopting flame retardant material to prevent arc splashing outward and ensure human security & equipment safety.                                                                        

④.  Its magnetic system is E type iron core, characterized by reliable performance, low consumption, low noise and high mechanical strength. Coil terminal A1, A2 are clearly printed with voltage specification, which makes the wiring easy and convenient.                      

⑤. Modulization , modular construction structure of auxiliary contact can be flexibly assembled according to different requirements.,
